Larry Goldman
* *

As Founder and CEO of Micro Tech Systems, Larry formed the corporation back in 1993 with the primary goal to provide our clients with the finest service and support in the industry.  Prior to Micro Tech Systems, Larry was a partner at a now defunct company that was one of Chicagoland’s largest office equipment dealers.  He began his career in 1969 as a technician, grew to partner and was responsible for the service department, parts department and customer satisfaction.

As the office equipment industry evolved to electronics, Larry realized that constant training and education was required to keep up with the constantly evolving IT industry, eventually migrating away from the office equipment industry moving forward to computers, networks and printers.

When MTS was borne, it was a one man show with Larry working out of his house, this lasted 1 ½ years at which time the technical staff was tripled and the business was moved to Northbrook, Il.  With more than 15 years experience, MTS has continued to grow and evolve in the IT industry.  15+ years in the computer industry is considered ancient, as technology never stops changing, nor does MTS.  Many ‘competitors’ have come and gone, the same can be said for many computer manufacturers.  The first computer manufacturer MTS became factory authorized for was Packard Bell, at one time the largest PC manufacturer in the world, now nothing more than a name from the past.

Larry’s vision and experience is what separates MTS from other companies, as he constantly puts himself in his client’s shoes, looking for the most cost effective solution to the problem at hand.

His clear understanding of customer service is second to none, and he hand-picks his staff to ensure everyone in the company understands their reason for being here and the primary goal of the company.

In 2005, after more than 2 years in research and development, Larry founded his sister company, The Data Store, Inc. “Our clients had an ongoing problem with backing up their computers, so we built our own data center and released a 100% automated backup solution”  Today, TDS provides this automated remote data backup and hosting service for a myriad of clients, everyone from home users to mid-size businesses with multiple servers.  The success of TDS is realized each time a client has a need to restore a file or an entire backup when disaster strikes.

Larry lives in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago with his wife of more than 30 years, has 4 grown children, one grandson (so far)  and enjoys music, being with family and friends and a serious pet lover.

Janet R. Pozdol
* *

Janet walked in the door back in 2000 seeking employment, her timing could not have been better, as the position she was applying for had just become available for the first time in 7 years.

Prior to MTS, Janet had worked several other jobs, most of them focused on customer service.  A little known secret about Janet is, she applied for a job at a computer company and had no idea how to type.  Somehow that ability never came up during her interview, and she passed all the companies requirements for the position she was applying for.

Typically the first voice our clients hear when calling, Janet has mastered her job requirements and goes well above and beyond to help our clients.  Her cheery voice is one that our customers have become accustomed to over the years.

Janet is responsible for taking care of all ‘walk-in’ customers, answering incoming calls, parts management, providing repair estimates, plus she is technically trained and experienced across a wide variety of computers, networks and printers.  In addition to her daily duties, she is also Larry’s executive secretary plus she assists Mark (our service manager) and the technicians, whatever anyone’s needs may be, Janet finds the solution.

She purchased her first home in the suburban Chicago area in 2004, where she currently resides with her fiancé and feline 'kids'. Her hobbies include remodeling /redecorating her home, spending time with her family and is also a fantastic cook.

Mark P. Goldman
* *

Mark, the eldest son of Larry, came to MTS after finishing high school. Initially just a summer job until he had time to sort out his life and figure out what he wanted to do after completing his studies.  That temporary summer job from 1998 grew from a trainee technician to his current position as service manager. Mark is responsible for managing each technician, project management, customer satisfaction and is also the company’s lead technical engineer. At the beginning of his employment with MTS he was a driver, and then went into printer service as a trainee.  After being certified by multiple major manufacturers, his interests leaned more toward the PC side, and from there to fully installing and maintaining servers and networks.

Mark ensures each technician has the proper tools, training and experience to handle whatever needs our clients require.  He is also responsible for the overall management of each division within the service department; including coordinating service and support of computers, maintaining our data centers, networks, printers, surveillance equipment as well as our custom built computers and servers.

He purchased his first home in 2002 where he currently resides with his fiancé in the Northwest Suburbs.  Mark’s hobbies include cars, his salt water fish/reef tank, and Chicago sports teams, Cubs, Bears & Hawks, plus he enjoys playing golf and softball.

Shaun T. Heeres
* *

Shaun was a childhood friend of Mark’s and was looking for a job after he completed his schooling.  As MTS’ growth continued upward, Shaun joined our family back in 2000 where he immediately began training as a printer technician.  Shaun’s certifications include Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, Canon, Okidata and more.  Originally Shaun serviced only printers, his skills continued to expand where he became responsible for the service and maintenance of digital network copiers, plotters, multifunction machines and then continued on to become certified by Axis, Panasonic and Toshiba to service and install surveillance systems.  Shaun is the lead technician for a vast product line and is constantly training on new technologies.

Married in 2007, Shaun, his wife and children reside in the far north suburbs. His hobbies include building his own house from the ground up, his dogs and most likely whatever his wife tells him to enjoy.  Shaun is also an avid sports fan, Cubs, Bears and Hawks.

Mike Shimp
* *

Mike joined the MTS family in 2006 as a computer support technician.  Due to ongoing training and experience, his skill set has grown to include network support, data recovery and is the lead technician for our sister company, The Data Store, Inc.

Mike’s commitment to solving our client’s needs are a perfect match for this company and Mike always has the customer’s best interest as a priority. In addition to computer/network support, plus his responsibilities to The Data Store, he also works closely with surveillance system installations and support.

Mike lives in the far west suburbs and his hobbies include taking care of his horses, riding his ATV and working on his cars.  We’re not quite sure how Mike fits so well with MTS, because he’s an avid Sox fan, but everyone else understands somebody has to be a Sox fan, so we forgive him.

By the way, the baby picture shown isn't really Mike, since he was unable to provide a photo, we substituted this one.

Bare Bones
* *
Bare Bones is one of our former service technicians who expired one day at a customer's office while waiting for the latest Microsoft updates to download.

He was meant for this kind of work, which is obvious from his work attire. "B" as we used to call him was a quiet guy, so it was a couple of weeks before anyone noticed he was "no longer with us."

Since he seemed so at home sitting in front of the blue screen of death with his head on the desk, we thought we would just leave him there as a reminder of the dangers inherent in our business. Please bow you head for a moment of silence in honor of "B."

Thank you
